What can I do with a Pharmacy Assistant Certificate?

Graduates of this program will have acquired the skills that qualifies them to be employed in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, long-term care facilities and community pharmacies.

Program Details

This one-year foundation program prepares students to pursue many careers in the pharmaceutical industry. This program prepare students to work in both retail and institutional pharmacies. The program introduces students to community and institutional pharmacy procedures, basic human anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
Students who enroll in the program will be equipped with the training and knowledge they need to become competitive applicants in the health and pharmaceutical industries in Canada.

Admission Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Alberta Grade 12 English Language and Mathematics completion or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test with a minimum score of 450 in each of the five tests.
  • Students from non-English speaking countries should provide proof of English Proficiency; IELTS with an overall band of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each band, CELPIP with an overall band of 6 and none less than 6, or a minimum TOEFL score of 78 (CBT), with nothing less than 19 in each band.
